Features of BoAt Iris

Boat iris watch review

1. Design

BoAt Iris is a good-looking watch, and I felt the premium design of the watch when I held it in my hand. The curricular dial looks amazing, and the strap is removable/replaceable if you do not like the design. The smartwatch’s strap comes in various colours, but, personally, blue looks the best.

The dial has a clickable crown on the right side which is not just for form but also has functions. The overall design language is amazing, but some people might not like the circular dial, which boils down to personal preference.

2. Battery Life

Battery life is an important parameter to select any smartwatch. The battery life of this watch will last you about a week on a full charge. However, the battery life will be lower if you keep the “Always On Display” feature. I noticed one day worth less battery life with Always On, which is not bad at all. Since it is an AMOLED display, the battery life may vary depending on the colour you choose for the Always On.

How Good is Boat Watch Iris Compared To Other Smartwatches

In this price range, many other smartwatches offer similar specifications at a similar price. Some of the smartwatches in the market, like ColourFit Pro 4 Max, are direct competitors. Let’s see how the BoAt Iris stands up against other smartwatches in the market.

The display of the BoAt iris is striking, which is mainly due to the high-resolution AMOLED display. The AMOLED screen gives deeper blacks and sharp colours, which is a delight to look at. BoAt Iris has a high PPI at 462, which means you can see more details on display. There is no touch response lag when using the smartwatch, but the UI lags a little. This can be fixed with prompt software upgrades from the company.

Most of the watches in this price range offer a TFT LCD screen which is not ideal considering the price. Compared to the Noise ColorFit Pro 4 Max, BoAt Iris wins with its AMOLED display. Even the touch feels smooth in the BoAt Iris, which is just an added benefit to the existing good display.

Wearing the BoAt Iris felt light and wasn’t hindering any tasks like typing. After getting used to it, you will not feel like you have worn any watch. The dial is relatively thinner than other smartwatches like the FireBoltt Thunder or Noise Agile.

Features like the Sports mode, notifications, call alert, and Calling functions are also crucial aspects of selecting a smartwatch. The features on the BoAt are adequate but do not feature the Calling function of any sort since it is missing a speaker or a mic.

You can find smartwatches in the market with a calling feature that usually starts from ₹4500, like the FireBoltt Ring 3. However, all the crucial, standard features like sports mode, step tracker, heart rate tracker, and Oxygen tracker are present in the Iris. The battery life is neither better nor worse than the other smartwatches in this price category, such as the Noise Agile. Both of them offer 7 days of battery life. The AMOLED display on the BoAt Iris may give it a boost overall.

PROS –

  • The design of the dial and strap feels really good.
  • It is lightweight, and doesn’t feel uncomfortable wearing it for long.
  • A high PPI (pixels per inch) of 462 ensures a crisp and punchy display.
  • Always On display makes it easier to look up time like a normal watch.
  • The brightness of the display is sufficient to look at it even outdoors
  • The touch response has no latency
  • You can replace the strap if you don’t like the design

CONS –

  • UI is a bit laggy, but it can be fixed with future software updates
  • No Calling Function
  • The weather feature is missing, which can be found in other smartwatches in this price range

Conclusion

BoAt Iris is a good-looking smartwatch with all the features one might need to justify the price. Even though it may lack some of the features of the other smartwatches in the same price bracket, it provides a good design, builds quality, and display.

For someone like me, I would prefer having a good AMOLED display rather than a calling function, making the BoAt Iris the first choice for me over other smartwatches. With good battery life and adequate features, BoAt Iris is one of the best smartwatches under 5000 in India. The current price of the BoAt Iris is still less than 4500, which makes it even more worthy for the price you pay.
