Hammer vs Boat

The Boat is a top-rated audio company with many great earphone products under its belt. The wireless neckbands have been popular with many people since they offer a wireless connection to the phone and stay on the wearer without falling off the ears.

The Boat has become one of India’s most well-known audio brands and continues to enjoy popularity with its founder Aman Gupta, who became more famous since he was a “shark” in Shark Tank India. On the other hand, Hammer is a relatively new and obscure brand, unlike boat or ptron brands which are direct competitors of the hammer. They also make wireless earphones, headphones, neckbands, and portable speakers.

Their products have received positive public feedback and continue to rise with improved products and increasing sales. Hammer recently went on Shark Tank India and bagged an investment of 1 crore for a 40% equity stake in the company. The equity was bought by none other than Boat’s founder Aman Gupta.

About Hammer Brand

hammer vs boat which is better

Hammer is India’s first Athleisure tech brand that manufactures high-quality TWS audio devices and fitness bands. Hammer was incepted in 2019 by Rohi Nandwani. It has doubled its turnover in just a couple of years. Hammer began with audio equipment of many types: earbuds, headphones, home audio devices, and so forth. However, it quickly simplified its products. Hammer’s items are priced from Rs 999 and Rs 3,999.

Through brand positioning, Hammer is attempting to differentiate itself from competitors like JBL, boAt, Noise, Apple, and Realme. As a result, Rohit emphasises Hammer as an athletic brand rather than one that sells technology.

Product research and development are done in-house, while production occurs in India and elsewhere. Manufacturing operations around Manesar and Panipat contribute 20% of total output, with the remainder coming from Germany, Taiwan, Estonia, and Vietnam. Hammer may not be the top wearable and audio brand, but it is climbing fast.

Hammer vs Boat | Which is Better

Since Amana Gupta bought out some shares in the Hammer and invested 1 crore in it, maybe BoAt’s founder was scared of the massive growth it was seeing from its competitor. Can Hammer stand up against BoAt? We will compare Hammer vs Boat with each category of their products to see which is better.

Hammer vs Boat TWE

hammer earbuds vs boat earbuds

Hammer and Boat are manufacturers of Truly Wireless Earphones (TWE), and both have received positive feedback from the masses, which are better if we compare Hammer earbuds vs Boat earbuds. Although boat has already delivered regarding TWE such as boat 441 and 441 pro earphones, which are established popular TWE earphones in the market.

1. Price

Hammer manufactures budget wireless earphones, and their earphones are well-priced, between 999 and 3499. Their most expensive earphone, which is the Hammer Solo Pro costs 3499. On the other hand, BoAt has a longer list of products under its TWE segment, and they too manufacture budget wireless earphones. Boat’s earphones are priced between 1149 and 4499, slightly more than Hammer’s range.

2. Features

Both the companies offer similar specifications and features in their products. However, Boat has more products and offers Truly Wireless Earphones with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Hammer does not sell ANC earphones, and their list of products is also smaller. Regarding drivers, Bluetooth connectivity, and battery, both brands have similar specifications for similar prices.

3. Durability

Hammer is a brand that focuses on athleisure products and similarly makes their product. Hammer makes their product to be more durable than average. Hammer earphones are known to last longer and don’t usually fail in function. On the other hand, BoAt has had more time in the market, which has given them the chance to improve their products. Boat’s TWE is durable too, but Hammer products are objectively slightly more durable than Boat.

4. Warranty

The Boat gives a one-year warranty on their products where they will repair or exchange the product if it fails in the stipulated period. While this is a standard warranty claim, they are known to replace the product in case of manufacturing defects. Hammer too gives one year of warranty on their products and is known for replacing the product if any manufacturing defect is at fault.

5. After Sale service

Aftersale service is an important decision to choose a brand. The Boat has been around longer, which by default means that they have a much larger presence in the country. They have service centres in many cities. Hammer has service centres in major cities, but they are still expanding to smaller cities with their service centres.

Hammer Solo Pro vs Boat 500 ANC

Hammer Solo Pro is the most expensive and premium product from Hammer, and the Boat 500 ANC is the most expensive product from the Boat. Let’s compare both of them to see which is better.

1. Design and Build Quality

Hammer Solo Truly Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds fit snuggly in your ears and stay there for a long period. However, after a few hours of wearing them, I did feel some pain. Hammer Solo Pro has an extended lobe which is not there in the Boat 500 ANC making it slightly heavier. Although, they stayed in my ear whether I was cycling, running, or just doing the “walk and talk” things at home.

The Boat 500 ANC are ergonomically designed, and I was able to use them for extended periods without experiencing any discomfort in their ears. However, the earphones are a little larger than standard earbuds, making me uncomfortable initially. You’ll adjust to them eventually, or you can change the ear tip to a smaller one.

They provided a solid fit that prevented them from shifting or falling off even when I was running. They feel lightweight and are designed for extended usage. Their build quality is excellent. Furthermore, they feature an IPX4 grade, indicating that they are water-resistant. Users can wear them while it’s raining or when they sweat during workouts. They are not designed to be used for swimming.

2. Sound Quality

While the design of the Hammer Solo Truly Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds is not its strongest suit, it more than compensates in sound. The driver it uses is unknown, but they certainly provide a lively sound profile. The mids are strong, making it a pleasure to listen to vocals. I enjoyed rap music, with each syllable hitting my ear with utmost clarity. The bass and treble clarity was good. I was able to distinguish between each instrument.

The sound quality of Hammer Solo Pro is very well balanced, and you will definitely have a treat listening to any music. On the other hand, Boat 500 ANC has 8mm drivers and Active Noise Cancellation. The 8mm driver is a bit disappointing considering the price. I could feel the bass pump even at 60%, but the treble felt a little scratchy and muddled at a higher volume.

But the Noise Cancellation works very well to remove any background chatter and noise from the environment. You can also turn on Ambient mode which lets you hear outside noises without taking off the earbuds. Overall, the sound quality is better in Hammer Solo Pro but lacks the Noise Cancellation, which is in Boat 500 ANC and works well.

3. Battery Life

The Boat Airdopes 500 ANC charging case has a 500 mah battery. The charging case is capable of charging your earphones 4-5 times. Each earbud comes with a 40 mah battery. These earphones have a battery life of 5-5.5 hours when fully charged.

I was able to get around 26-28 hours of total playing. With ANC Mode, you should get roughly 22-23 hours. The Hammer Solo Pro also had a decent battery life with a total of 20 to 22 hours of playback. However, the playtime is 3 to 4 hours for each charge when out of the case.

4. After Sales and Warranty

The boAt gives you one year of warranty on both the products. The boAt has an extensive network of sales and service centres across India and is known for good aftersales support, although that might vary based on your location and the specific centre. Hammer also provides one year of warranty but doesn’t have a huge network of service centres in India.

Hammer vs Boat Headphones

hammer headphones vs boat

Headphones are a little more expensive than earpods but offer more comfort and battery life than wireless earphones. Hammer and Boat are manufacturers of Headphones, and both have received positive feedback from the masses, but boat has delivered an exceptional boat rockerz 510 headphones which is considered among best headphones under 5000. On the other hand hammer is trying to captalise the headphones market, let’s look at which is better if we compare Hammer headphones vs Boat headphones.

1. Price

Hammer manufactures budget headphones and has only two products under their headphones segment. Both are priced at 1999, and Hammer Bash 2.0, their latest product, cost 1999. On the other hand, BoAt has a longer list of products under its headphones segment, and they too manufacture budget headphones, both wired and wireless. Boat’s earphones are priced between 899 and 3999, much more than Hammer’s range.

2. Features

The Boat has more products, and they also have headphones with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Hammer does not sell ANC earphones, and their list of products is much smaller. In terms of drivers, Bluetooth connectivity, and battery, both brands have similar specifications when compared for similar prices.

3. Durability

Hammer is an athleisure-focused company that manufactures its items similarly. Hammer creates products that are more durable than the ordinary. Hammer headphones endure a long time and seldom fail in operation. Boat, on the other hand, has had a longer time in the market, which has allowed them to develop their goods. Boat’s headphones are also sturdy; however, their lower-priced goods lack durability and do not last as long as their more costly counterparts.

4. Warranty

The Boat offers a one-year guarantee on its goods, during which they will repair or replace the product if it fails within the specified time frame. While this is a common warranty claim, they are known to replace the device in the event of manufacturing faults. Hammer also provides a one-year guarantee on its items and is recognised for replacing them if a manufacturing issue occurs.

5. After Sale service

Aftersales service is a crucial consideration when selecting a brand. The Boat has been around for a longer time; thus, they have a considerably wider footprint in the country. They have service centres in a variety of cities. Hammer has service locations in large cities, but they are still expanding their service centres to smaller towns.

Hammer Bash 2.0 vs Boat Nirvaana 1007 ANC

Hammer Bash 2.0 is the only product from Hammer, and the Boat Nirvana 1007 ANC is the most expensive product from the Boat. Let’s compare both of them to know which is better.

1. Design and Build Quality

Hammer Bash 2.0 is an over-ear design making it comfortable to wear for a long time. The headphones fit nicely over my ears and stayed there for a long time. However, after a few hours of wearing them, I felt pain in the upper ear. Although this is common in all headphones, it also depends on the shape and size of your ear.

While the Hammer Bash 2.0 has a more “flashy” design, Boat Niravaana 1007 ANC does a really good job at feeling and looking premium with its simple design and metal finish. It also has an over-ear design making it comfortable to wear for long hours without any pain. I could wear it comfortably for over 4 hours without feeling any discomfort. Both of them are foldable and has soft cushion for utmost comfort. Comfort-wise, both are great and differentiate only in the outer design.

2. Sound Quality

Boat Niravaana 1007 ANC has Active Noise Cancellation, but the sound quality is not great. The bass was not very deep, and the highs felt distorted at a higher volume. Even though it does a decent job with ANC, the overall sound quality could have been improved.

It is not bad by any means but could have been better for its price. Noise Cancellation works very well to remove any background chatter and noise from the environment. You can also turn on Ambient mode which lets you hear outside noises without taking off the earbuds. On the other hand, Hammer Bash 2.0 provides a very good sound experience, which is their trademark now. With 40mm drivers, they certainly provide a lively sound profile.

The mids are strong, making it a pleasure to listen to vocals. I was able to listen clearly, and the bass clarity was good. I was able to enjoy each separate instrument of the music with the balanced sound profile of the Hammer Bash 2.0 Overall, the sound quality is better in Hammer Bash 2.0 but lacks the Noise Cancellation in Boat 1007 ANC and works really well.

3. Battery Life

The Boat Airdopes 1007 ANC has impressive battery life. It gave me about 40 hours of battery life with ANC turned on. You can get more battery life when you turn off the ANC. With Hammer Bash 2.0, the battery life was decent, which gave me around 7 hours of playback time on a single charge. This may sound less, but it also costs less than the Boat 1007 ANC.

Hammer vs Boat Smartwatches

hammer vs boat smartwatches

Smartwatches are another battleground for brands. The Boat is one of the top brands which manufacture smartwatches like boat extend and boat storm which are quite popular among their costumers, while the Hammer is relatively new to this segment.

1. Price

Hammer manufactures mid-range smartwatches and currently has few products under their smartwatch segment. Hammer’s smartwatches are priced between 2799 and 4499. On the other hand, BoAt has a longer list of products under its headphones segment, and they too manufacture budget headphones, both wired and wireless. Boat’s earphones are priced between 1999 and 4999, roughly the same as Hammer’s range.

2. Features

The Boat has more products, but most of its products are not Bluetooth Call enabled, and there are only a few at the higher price points. On the other hand, many of the existing Hammer smartwatches have a Bluetooth Calling function. But the features such as sports mode, display, and functions are slightly better in the Boat smartwatches at similar prices.

3. Durability

Hammer is an athleisure-focused brand that makes comparable products. Hammer develops items that are more durable than the average. Hammer headphones are said to last long and seldom fail in use. On the other hand, Boat has been on the market for a longer time, allowing them to improve their products. Smartwatches are durable, and the smartwatches from Boat, which are aimed at athletic activities, are more durable than the budget ones.

4. Warranty

The Boat offers a one-year guarantee on its goods, during which they will repair or replace the product if it fails within the specified time frame. While this is a common warranty claim, they are known to replace the device in the event of manufacturing faults. Hammer also provides a one-year guarantee on its items and is recognised for replacing them if a manufacturing issue is found.

5. After Sale service

Aftersales service is a crucial consideration when selecting a brand. The Boat has been around for a longer time; thus they have a considerably wider footprint in the country. They have service centres in a variety of cities. Hammer has service locations in large cities, but they are still expanding their service centres to smaller towns.

Hammer Active Round vs Boat TReble Watch Matrix

1. Design and Build Quality

Hammer Active Round has a round watch face, whereas the Boat TReble Watch Matrix has a square face. When I wore the Boat smartwatch on my hand, it felt incredibly lightweight, and the metal watch face looked very premium with an aluminium finish. It is also very thin when compared to most smartwatches in this segment. The build quality and design of the Boat TReble are amazing and worth the price.

The Hammer Active Round, on the other hand, looks very sporty. It also has three crowns on the side which you can use to change the watch face on the display. Pretty nifty feature! It felt a little heavy when worn on the hand, but I got used to it in a while, and it didn’t feel cumbersome to wear. The design language is very sporty but stylish and suits great whether you go jogging or to a party.

2. Display

Boat TReble features an AMOLED display, enough to leave behind most of the smartwatches on the market. I could look at the time on my watch face without much struggle since it was bright and the contrast was striking. I did not feel any significant input lag when I touched the screen, and it felt pretty smooth to use. The curved 2.5D design and narrow bezels elevated my experience using the smartwatch.

On the other hand, the Hammer Active Round had a little lag when you touched the screen, but the brightness and contrast were very striking. The 385 PPI contributed to brighter and crisper colours. Seeing time on the watch face was not an effort in this case. The AMOLED display can keep the watch on, which cannot be done on the Active Round.

3. Battery Life

The battery life on the Boat TReble was decent enough, with 7 days of battery life on a single charge. If you keep the display on, the battery will drain faster. Hammer Active Round lasted longer than 9 days on a single charge, which isn’t surprising since it doesn’t have an AMOLED display or Always on the feature.

4. Features

The defining feature of the Hammer Active Round is its Bluetooth Call function. I could make calls directly from the smartwatch without needing to take out my phone. I could access the contacts and the dialer on the watch itself.

It offers standard features such as SpO2 tracking, Heart Rate monitor, steps counters, sports counter, breathing mode, and calorie trackers. Boat TReble has all these features but only lacks the Bluetooth calling feature. It also features more individual sports modes and an Always On feature.

Conclusion

The Boat is an older company with experience in making better products. But the Hammer is not far behind. As we compared the products from these two brands, it was evident that Hammer is not far behind Boat and, in many ways, defeats it. If Hammer continues on the current trajectory, it will soon catch up to Boat and other top brands in this segment.

But Boat is already trusted by the masses, and they continue developing innovative products. In the end, competition is always healthy in the market and makes the brand push its limits giving more choices to the consumers.
